Help for Parents of Teenagers
Discussion
When you think about your teenager, what are some of the things that come to mind?
- Perhaps you find yourself thinking about your desire for your teenager's success and happiness
- Or your fond memories of your teenager as a child
- Or your teenager's performance in school
- Or your teenager's attitude and approach to life
- Or the fight you had with your teenager last night
- Or your teenager's increasing interest in independence
- Or...
There certainly is a lot to think about as the parent of a teenager!
Whether your teenager is doing well, coasting along (and not really
achieving his or her "potential") or starting to spend time with a "bad crowd", one of the
most important thoughts on your mind is your desire to help your teenager become a
successful adult. You want your teenager to get started down the right path. You want the best
for your teenager both now and in the future.
If you are having trouble talking to your teenager now, one of the other
things you probably spend a lot of time pondering is the relationship you have with your
teenager. If you are experiencing rough going in your relationship with your teenager, you are wondering
what you can do to bring some sort of harmony back into your household.
There are a number of excellent books available to help you understand
what your teenager is going through. These books help you to try different approaches
that have proven successful for other parents. There is also a wide variety of web
sites offering free information for parents, as well as chat groups, forums and electronic gathering places
where parents meet to discuss their problems and successes together. This page acts as a gateway
to these resources.
The Teenager's Guide to the Real World is
a book that can be especially helpful to parents who want the best for their teenagers. This
book is designed to show your son or daughter how the world really works so that he
or she can start planning now for a successful future. By giving this book to your teenager,
you are opening his or her eyes to what is really important in life, and to what it means
to become a responsible and successful adult in today's society. The book starts with the concept
that teenagers get to design their own lives, and then calls on teenagers to make
the most of that opportunity by thinking about what they want out of life.
As a parent you will find that The
Teenager's Guide to the Real World contains
the topics that you know in your heart are vitally important to teenagers, and that you want your
teenager to understand:
- the importance of values and ethics,
- the significance of a good job,
- the sanctity of sex and marriage,
- the value of society's laws and rules
Look through
the table of contents and
you will discover the importance of the topics this book discusses in its 46 chapters. You can hand this
book to your teenager with confidence. Your teenager will be fascinated with the
book because it discusses topics that are never discussed in high school.
Or use it to start meaningful, important discussions between
you and your teenager about topics that really matter.
This book can act as a bridge that gives you and your teenager
a way to start discussing these topics openly
and candidly.

However, none of it explains why Christina won’t go out with you this weekend,
